FROM THE EDITOR

25 Ways to Go All In for Sensational CLNC® Success at the 2008 NACLNC® Conference – 3 Powerful Tracks, 22 Sensational Sessions and Emmy® Award-Winning Suze Orman Deliver Your Winning Hand
by Vickie L. Milazzo, RN, MSN, JD

1,200 Certified Legal Nurse ConsultantsCM are guaranteed to cash out big at the 2008 NACLNC® Conference, March 17-18, 2008 in Las Vegas. In addition to some of the biggest CLNC® players in the country appearing as our conference speakers, we’ll be joined by Emmy® Award-winning personal finance expert and bestselling author Suze Orman.

Grab These 25 Ways and Go All In at the 2008 NACLNC® Conference

COME PREPARED and Cash In Big

  • Come relaxed and ready to discover new ideas. The NACLNC® Conference is much more fun when you’re rested, and you’ll learn so much more if you leave your stress behind.
  • Pack energy bars, raw nuts and other healthy snacks to maintain your energy. Three-foot-tall daiquiris wear off quickly.
  • Bring plenty of business cards. You’ve got 1,200 new CLNC® friends to meet.
  • Plan to arrive early and enjoy a weekend of fun on your own before the Conference begins. These are some of my favorites:
    • Treat yourself to any show by Cirque du Soleil – there are 5 to choose from and they’re all my favorite.
    • Take a real gondola ride through the canals of Venice on the second floor of the Venetian casino.
    • Feel the heat from the volcano at the Mirage and then go see the white tigers.
    • Go window shopping in the Forum at Caesar’s Palace, then dip your tired feet in the Trevi fountain (but don’t let the Roman Centurion Guards catch you).
    • My favorite game is craps, but if the high-rolling, cigar-smoking good-old-boy attorneys playing there are too intimidating, put $5 on red and $5 on black on any roulette wheel (just don’t tell me you played Keno).
    • See the nighttime musical water fountain show at Bellagio.
    • Ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Las Vegas and steal a kiss.
    • Ride the roller coaster past the Statue of Liberty at New York, New York.
    • Go see the “Thunder from Down Under” and get my favorite seat on the front row (but don’t tell Tom I sent you).
    • See Wayne Newton (come on, admit it – you’ve always wanted to).

DURING the Conference – Roll the Dice in Your Favor

  • Have fun! Don’t miss a tribute to “The King” at 7:00am on Monday when you will enjoy a rhinestone-studded concert by The King himself and you’ll also be dazzled with a special performance by one of his infamous understudies. Scarves will be flying!
  • Turn off your cell phone, pager, chiming watch and any other stress-producer you’ve brought with you. This is not only a courtesy to your fellow CLNC® peers, but also a courtesy to yourself, honoring all you’ve invested to be here.
  • Limit checking your email and voicemail or calling home to just once a day.
  • Be open to all the new recommendations for
    “Going All In.
  • Eat lunch and dinner each day with three CLNC® consultants you don’t know – with over 1,200 CLNC® consultants in attendance, it'll be fun and easy.
  • Sell your expertise to other CLNC® consultants. Meet and get to know two new CLNC® consultants at each break and reception. You are each other’s best resources for future CLNC® subcontractors and experts.
  • Practice positive masterminding. Connect with two other CLNC® consultants and mastermind together at the end of the day. Each of you will process and apply information differently. Focus only on positive ideas. By coming together, you’ll take home new strategies you wouldn’t think of alone.
  • Remember to sign up for your professional photo session while at the conference.

Commit to Make Your Conference Investment Pay Off

  • Don’t miss a session. Go in positively believing that a single idea can increase your profitability 1%, 5%, even 10% and more.
  • At each session write down at least one action step you will take.
  • Commit to learn one thing from each speaker. While every presentation is packed with useful information for you, the key is being in the right mindset to grab the ideas when they come your way. I once attended a seminar where only 5% of the information was interesting and fresh. But the ideas I got from that 5% added to the growth of my company by as much as 10%. Because I was committed to learning, my mind was ready when the “good stuff” was presented.
  • Take the information presented and create your own new ideas. My goal when I sit in on a session is to come up with ideas that are even better than any I get from the speaker. This mindset will help you achieve a unique CLNC® business – not a look-alike imitation of someone else’s.

Refresh, Renew, Reward

  • Take it easy. If you allow yourself to get frustrated about anything – an airport delay or the person sitting next to you – you’re the only one who will suffer. Stay loose. If your plane is late, browse around the airport bookstore. If you aren’t happy with the person sitting next to you, sit next to someone else in the next session or get up and move. Stay upbeat and attract positive energy.
  • Exercise daily – even for only 20 minutes. Get outside the hotel and renew yourself. Take a brisk walk around the grounds. Visualize your CLNC® experience as you indulge in a massage or relax in a hot tub. Treat yourself to a fun memory – buy a souvenir or take a snapshot with the 10-foot statue of Elvis located outside the main hotel entrance.
  • Remember to put on your comfortable CLNC® Wear so everyone in Las Vegas will know you are a Certified Legal Nurse ConsultantCM.

AFTER the Conference – Count Your Chips

  • Stay an extra day to relax and to absorb and use what you have learned. Don’t just jump back into your busy CLNC® practice.
  • When it’s time to leave, decide on one new CLNC® service to take home and share with every attorney-client.
  • Reconnect with your attorney-clients by sending a note to let them know you’ve attended this conference for additional education and to renew your CLNC® Certification. Remind them that this is your way to better serve them and their clients.
  • Send a news release to your community newspaper announcing your completion of this advanced Certified Legal Nurse ConsultantCM training and renewal of your CLNC® Certification.
  • Commit now to review your NACLNC® Conference textbook and all the meaningful notes you took. Listen to the audio CDs once a week, once a month and once a year after the conference. Repetition helps you integrate and implement the principles and strategies successfully. With each review you will hear the information in a new way because you’ll be more experienced. Each time you listen, you’ll generate even better ideas. After each review create three new action steps to propel your CLNC® business to the next level.
It’s Vegas Baby! Every CLNC® Consultant Walks Away a Winner.

Brand Your CLNC® Practice with the NACLNC® Member Seal

"A brand you know and trust..." How often have you heard that expression? Whether it's dishwasher detergent or a new car, we all prefer to buy a brand we know and trust. In fact, studies have shown that 76% of consumers would be more likely to contact a business backed by a known brand name than they would to deal with a "no-name" company.

Your CLNC® Certification entitles you to display the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Member Seal on your website. YOUR FEEDBACK

Editor’s Note: Thanks to Melanie M. Morris, RN, MBA, BSN, CCRN, TNCC, CLNC for her note of appreciation regarding the CLNC® Q&A column in the Legal Nurse Consulting Ezine.

Thank you so much for the Legal Nurse Consulting Ezine. I have been reading the Ezine religiously since it was delivered the “old fashioned” way – snail mail. Each issue continues to provide amazing tips, a shot of inspiration and sound advice. I really like the “Q&A” section providing answers to both simple and complex questions from CLNC® consultants. Some of us may know the answer, but the reminder, refresher, “kick in the pants” is great! It is so important to remember the basics – the Q&A made that hit home again today.

Thank you, Vickie, for continuing to be an inspiration and helping so many of us CLNC® consultants improve ourselves both professionally and personally. Keep doing what you do!

Melanie M. Morris, RN, MBA, BSN, CCRN, TNCC, CLNC, Ohio
